Cooking addon for WoW Forever
Cooking ingredients come from everywhere: fish you catch, meat from mobs, and spices from vendors.
The ForeverArtisan Cooking module reads every recipe from your Cooking window, plans the climb to any target skill, and names where each ingredient comes from: a vendor you've met, your best fishing spot, or your Skinning, Herbalism and Mining logs.
What the Cooking module does
/fa cookCooking reads every recipe, learned or not, from your Cooking window. Open the window once and the module has your whole recipe book.
- Cook now lists recipes that still give skill-ups, with how many you can make from your bags
- Plan to any target skill: recipes, cook counts, and a have / need shopping list
- Shopping list sources come from Core's vendor list and your Fishing, Skinning, Herbalism, and Mining logs
- Recipe book shows where each recipe turns gray and, for recipes you don't know, who sells them
- Ingredient tooltips name the recipes that use them

Leveling Cooking with ForeverArtisan
Cooking shares one window and one plan engine with the other seven crafting modules. These steps get the plan working.
- Open the profession window once. Until your recipes are read, every tab shows an "Open <profession> window" button. One click opens it and the recipes are read. After that, the Open window button at the top right does the same.
- Not learned yet? "Learn from:" names the closest trainer you've met or passed (marked "seen" if you haven't talked to them), with a Waypoint button.
- Check your tools. A recipe that needs a tool you don't have says "needs Blacksmith Hammer" or "needs Runed Copper Rod" in red, and tools go first on the shopping list. Hover a recipe for where it's made ("Made at: Anvil").
- Find recipes you don't have. The Recipe book lists every recipe, learned first, then "Not learned yet". Each one you don't know is tagged trainer, vendor, drop or quest from your own play. A recipe with no known source says "not found yet": it could be a trainer, vendor, drop or quest you haven't come across. Keep exploring.
- Plan to a target. Type a target skill and the plan lists each craft with a have / need shopping list. Materials you make along the way (Light Leather, cured hides) count toward your skill-ups, and each step shows what it makes.
- Get prices. Open the Auction House, click an item on the shopping list (it types the name in the search box) and press Search. The price shows within a second and is remembered for 30 days. Auctionator is used if you have it, never required. ForeverArtisan never searches or buys for you.
- Visit a trainer once. With Trade Contacts on, open a trainer's list for the profession. The plan can then use recipes you haven't learned yet ("train at 55"), and the shopping list starts with what to train and what it costs.
- Make the window taller. Drag its bottom-right corner to see more of the plan. The size is remembered.
Shared by every crafting module
- Prices on the shopping list: each missing material shows what it costs, with a total at the bottom ("To buy what's missing: about 34s 20c"). No other addon needed: ForeverArtisan remembers the cheapest buyout on Auction House pages you look at yourself, for 30 days. With Auctionator installed it uses those scans too, whichever is newer, and a vendor from Trade Contacts wins when it's cheaper. Hover an item for where the price came from and how old it is
- Click to search: at the Auction House, clicking a shopping list item types its name in the search box. You press Search. ForeverArtisan never searches or buys for you
- Recipes you can still train: when a trainer you've visited teaches a recipe you haven't learned, the plan uses it from the skill it needs and marks that step "train at 55". Training goes first on the shopping list: one "Train now" line for everything your skill already allows, then one line each for later ones ("at 80"), with costs in the total. No trainer on file yet? The plan tells you to open one once
- The cheaper way up: when two recipes are about equally likely to skill up (within 10%), the plan picks the one that costs less per skill point. Recipe colors you've seen stick, so the plan gets more accurate as you level
- Taller window: drag the bottom-right corner of any crafting window to see more of the plan and shopping list; the size is remembered, and long lists scroll with the mouse wheel
- Tools and stations: a recipe that needs a tool you don't have says so in red ("needs Blacksmith Hammer", "needs Runed Copper Rod"). Tools go first on the shopping list, and hovering a recipe shows where it's made ("Made at: Anvil")
- Recipe book: every recipe, learned first, then "Not learned yet", each by gray level, with Show: All / Learned / Not learned buttons
- Where to get recipes you don't have: each one is tagged trainer, vendor, drop, quest or "not found yet". Hover for the trainer or vendor you met; click for a waypoint. Only what you've seen yourself. It never guesses
- Where materials drop: loot a crafting material from a mob and its tooltip remembers it ("Dropped by Greater Duskbat, Tirisfal Glades, you looted it 2 times"). Chests, herbs and ore veins don't count
- Open window button opens the game's profession window; clicking a recipe you know opens it on that recipe where the game allows
- Not learned yet? "Learn from:" names the closest trainer you've met or passed, with a Waypoint button
- Long lists say how many more rows are below
How Cooking colors work in WoW Forever
The Forever client reports the skill at which each recipe turns gray. In the recipes we logged during the beta, green started 20 points below gray and yellow 40 points below gray. The Cooking module uses that pattern for its color estimates.
| Recipe | Orange | Yellow | Green | Gray |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rockscale Cod | up to 189 | 190–209 | 210–229 | 230 |
| Goblin Deviled Clams | up to 164 | 165–184 | 185–204 | 205 |
Before you start
- Keep in your bags: Flint and Tinder and Simple Wood for a Basic Campfire
- Also check: Open the Cooking window once per character

Cooking questions
How does ForeverArtisan know my Cooking recipes?
Open the Cooking window once on each character. The module reads every recipe, learned or not, and keeps it until you open the window again.
What do I need to build a campfire?
Flint and Tinder and Simple Wood for a Basic Campfire. The Camping module also tracks the Cooking campfire kits, with the skill to learn and to light each one.
Do I need Auctionator for shopping list prices?
No. ForeverArtisan remembers the cheapest buyout on Auction House pages you look at yourself, for 30 days. Auctionator's scans are used too if you have it installed, and a cheaper vendor from your Trade Contacts wins. ForeverArtisan never searches or buys for you.
Why doesn't my plan include a recipe I haven't learned?
Open a trainer's list for that profession once, with Trade Contacts on, then reopen the plan. The plan only uses trainer recipes it has seen, and marks them "train at" the skill they need.
One addon, every profession
ForeverArtisan is one free download with a module for each of the twelve WoW Forever professions, plus Trade Contacts and Camping. Switch any of them off in the /fa panel.
Enjoy the journey!
